Mom came back from a week at camp
smelling like bug spray, sunscreen,
grit, and Chipotle sauce.
She had already taken TWO other loads of costumes
up to the Y camp, but still her car was packed.
She slept on a leather couch
in the basement of the Health Lodge.
I love leather couches...
Camp is only an hour and a half away.
But Mom says if feels way farther.
She brought the counseling staff some munchies.
And she brought back a bunch of munchies from Wisconsin!
For the final breakfast they always have scones.
Mom brought shells and dominoes
for the campers to play with
and enjoyed doing tent inspection one day.
She loved seeing the sun set over the lake each night.
Mom played games,
got creative in the Craft Shop,
put ketchup and mustard
on hotdogs
and ate a s'more.
She enjoyed singing slow songs
and sitting by a campfire,
got slimey,
painted rocks with a friend,
dressed up in costumes,
enjoyed nature,
trained a magic worm,
and basically hung out
trying to be encouraging
to campers and staff.
Mom came home to find this:
Mom did not ride a motorcycle at camp,
but she and Dad did take some rides
earlier this month.
Mom managed a resale store a few days.
She and Dad still go antiquing a lot.
You never know what in the world
they'll find next.
No, Mom doesn't need more earrings.
Yes, she bought these.
(On sale!)
Whooooo else likes enamel artwork?
Have you read some good books recently?
Been to any fairs or carnivals?
Watched Stranger Things?
Heard any concerts?
Played some tunes?
Gone on any joy rides in cool cars?
"Toad" any good jokes?
Had some good nibbles?
Have you made some new friends?
Celebrated freedom?
Gone on any travels?
(I keep trying to escape...)
I can see Mom and Dad have luggage packed.
I've heard they are headed to a wedding.
I'm sure they will have more photos and tales
to share but I'm going to end this blog for now.
PAWS and take a moment to reflect on your summer doings.
Have you taken every opportunity you've had
to enjoy the seasonal adventures available?
Go have some fun!
BUT,
summer can be HOT.
So be sure you are drinking plenty of water!
Stay cool y'all!
