Good morning, Sunshine

Mom is trying to grow sunflowers.
So far the chipmunks are having a nice snack.
Her friend does NOTHING,
just lets the seeds from her bird feeder fall.
No fair.
Mom planted seeds and put Irish Spring soap
around the area because the Internet
(which never lies) told her it would discourage varmints.
Ha.
They even snapped off the tiniest sprout
from the ground and left it for dead.
Murderers.
So Mom planted some seeds in a pot up on the balcony.

She's going to replant them.
Hope it works...
Updates in August.
*
Mom has been dog sitting lots.
She smells.
Like.
Other.
Dogs.
I was glad when I got to meet one of these pups in person!
Here's some pics of friends' pooches.

We had a good 4th of July!
Mom got up to her Y camp twice this month.
Her pet lobster helped her with tent inspections.
She did 3 days in June and went back for s'more fun in July.
We had a dinner party here!
The first since the damnpanic hit.
We played this game - sort of.
We also realized a 70's game would have been more fun.
(Mom re-donated it!)
She's excited because her 40th HS reunion has been rescheduled
after being cancelled because of Covid.
Mom got some Beanie Babies for FREE.
She gave this one to her friend who is a dachshund mommy.
She also gave them away as part of a Fourth of July float.
For you cat lovers:

My human sister found a great chair for Mom.
But then she let her CAT get hair on it!
Ahhhhhhhchoooooo!
Poor Mom.
Thrifting was outstanding this month because at Goodwill
you get an extra discount during your birthday month!
Mom found a dozen Indian NEW outfits for deep discount.
She wore one on her birthday
and is slowly giving them each their turn.

Not all the items below were purchased
but they were all enjoyed viewing!

It's fun to take a photo and text it to a friend -
sparking conversations and connection.
The key to good thrifting is to find out
when the bests sales are and
which day is after the restocking.
Sometimes Mom finds items that are perfect for
young children. A book, a toy, an outfit.
She loves to give these things away.
Look at this sweet thank you note she got!
It's been HOT outside so I've been snoozing in the air conditioning.
How are you all doing?
Are you taking the time to smell the flowers?

Mom's puzzling has stopped for the time being.
She's OUTSIDE bopping about
but here's two she completed in July.
Mom made banana bread before the pandemic
and continues to bake it!
Yummy treats had this month:

Question:
"How many deviled eggs does it take
to get an invitation to go on a boat?"
Answer:
"Just enough."

Did you hear about the farmer that had an evil chicken?

It only laid deviled eggs!

FYI
Mom is still going to the beach some.
But the beach glass is very minimal.
Mom went old school and watched some DVDs while dog sitting.
She loves to listen to commentaries and watch the special features.
Good book on audio too!
Good online concert!
Farmer's Markets rock!

Hearing live music again is so enjoyable!
Dressing up to hear live music is part of the fun!
Mom had a BIRTHDAY this month!
It was a great day full of mystery and whipped cream!
Da best!
She got some sweet gifts and funny cards!

Sometimes the best gift
is the gift of time
and serenity.
Mom loves music.
Especially the bubble gum pop of the '70s.
When she found out Journey was playing
at Lollapaloza she knew she wanted to be there.
She also got to hear Miley Cyrus, Motherfolk, Oston, Tai Verdes,
Black Pistol Fire, Jawny, Jacob Banks, Emotional Oranges, Cam,
Elohim, Arizona Zervas, Roddy Rich, AG Club, Lauv,
Brownies and Lemonade All Stars, & Marshmello,
Today she'll hear Cautious Clay, Limp Bizkit,
and stay until the last song plays -
to hear how Journey closes their set.
Sunday she's hearing Brooke Alexx (an Elon grad!),
and Foo Fighters!
But best of all,
she got to hear Aly and AJ on the big stage
AND
UP CLOSE!!!

In between sets I read
Claire Cook's latest book
on creativity.
It's outstanding!
I hope you are
VACCINATED,
SAFE,
and
ENJOYING LIFE!
PAWS a moment and decide,
what's holding you back?
Don't miss an opportunity!

  1. Magnus, I'm so glad to see that you've had some prime time for summer napping! Tell your Mom to slide her seedlings into a sunny porch planter and she'll have gorgeous sunflowers in no time!
